Campus Wi-Fi: epfl vs eduroam
Companion to CAMIPRO.
Short version
On the EPFL campus, prefer the epfl Wi-Fi network with your EPFL account (username@epfl.ch). Use eduroam when you visit other Eduroam partner campuses (for example regular trips to UNIL) and want one login everywhere.

Which SSID when

| eduroam | Only if you travel often between Eduroam partner sites and want the same login everywhere (EPFL example: regular trips EPFL ↔ UNIL). You keep using your own institution's identifier and password (for EPFL students: username@epfl.ch). |
Visitors and guests have separate Wi-Fi options on the WiFi hub; this page is for EPFL members (students with campus accounts).
Technical pointers (from EPFL access page)
General settings EPFL publishes for both SSIDs (SSID row: epfl "choose as a priority on the EPFL campus", eduroam at other universities):
- Encryption: AES-CCMP
- Auth: WPA2-802.1X / WPA3-802.1X (Enterprise)
- EAP: PEAP + MS-CHAPv2 or EAP-TTLS + MS-CHAPv2
- CA: DigiCert_Global_Root_G2.pem

Use EPFL's profile (Apple devices) or EPFL's PDF guide (Windows, Linux, Android) rather than guessing settings by hand.
Account / 2FA
Wi-Fi logs in with your EPFL account (username@epfl.ch + EPFL password). The access page's "Password management" link points to EPFL IT's Entra ID authentication pages (Manage passwords); on 5 Oct 2026 that page showed "VPN error" from outside EPFL, so open it on campus wired / VPN or ask the IT Service Desk. The Wi-Fi pages say nothing about 2FA / MFA for Wi-Fi; this kit does not add steps EPFL does not publish. If login fails, check the password first, then reinstall the profile or re-follow the PDF guide.
