How to use this page
- Find the commune on your lease (often Ecublens, St-Sulpice, Renens, Chavannes-près-Renens, or Lausanne, not “EPFL”).
- Open that commune’s waste / déchèterie page for collection days and hours (they change by season).
- Buy official taxed bags where the regional system applies; see Waste and recycling basics for commune-cited prices (Lausanne and Ecublens are listed separately; they disagree on 35 L).
Hall residents: ask the hall what is already included before buying bags.
Ecublens
- Waste hub: Gestion des déchets, Ecublens
- System: regional taxe au sac (« Trier c’est valoriser »); Ecublens points to vaud-taxeausac.ch. Ecublens bag table (commune page, 5 Oct 2026): 17 L CHF 1.00; 35 L CHF 2.00 (roll CHF 20.00); 60 L CHF 3.80; 110 L CHF 6.00. This table applies to Ecublens addresses (Lausanne’s 35 L price is different).
- Taxe de base: Ecublens states that the per-inhabitant taxe de base provided for in its waste regulation is not levied in Ecublens, because the Municipality refunds it as a social relief measure (same waste hub page).
- Déchèterie: Chemin de Verney 15. Hours on the commune page (Mon & Wed afternoons; Sat morning/afternoon; summer Mon/Wed until 18:00). Access needs a badge from Service des habitants (Place du Motty 4); commune states CHF 10 per badge (refundable when returned working). See also Accès à la déchetterie.
- 2026 calendars / flyers: linked from the waste hub (tableau de ramassage, Info-déchets, déchetterie PDF).
St-Sulpice (Vaud)
- Collecte hub: Collecte des déchets, St-Sulpice
- Voirie / déchèterie: Service de voirie
- Déchèterie des Jordils: Rue du Centre 138. Seasonal hours on the collecte page (summer: Mon & Wed late afternoon + Sat morning; winter: Wed afternoon + Sat morning; closed public holidays incl. Easter Saturday and 31 Dec).
- Bags: Info-déchets leaflet describes sacs taxés collection days (household rubbish only in the official taxed bags, per Directive 1, 2026). The communal waste regulation (Art. 15) sets maximum bag taxes, VAT included: 17 L CHF 1.25, 35 L CHF 2.50, 60 L CHF 4.75, 110 L CHF 7.50 (Règlement communal sur la gestion des déchets (PDF)). These are legal caps, not shop prices. To verify: the actual shelf price in St-Sulpice shops (neither the commune page nor its 2026 directives publish one).
- Taxe forfaitaire 2026: Directive 2 sets CHF 100.00 per person per year, excl. VAT (under-18s exempt until the year after their 18th birthday; charged by whole months, pro rata, if you arrive or leave mid-year) (Directive 2, 2026 (PDF)).
- Relief measures 2026: a household with several young adults aged 18 to 25 who have no earned income is billed for at most three people. People receiving PC AVS/AI, PC Familles or RI can ask the Service des finances in writing, with proof, for an exemption within 30 days of receiving the invoice. Families with a newborn or a child up to 3, and people with a medical certificate for incontinence, can collect five rolls of 10 × 35 L bags free at the commune reception (Rue du Centre 50) (Directive 3, 2026 (PDF)).
Renens
- Waste pages: Déchets, Renens · Collecte à votre porte (zones and calendar) · Comment trier ? · Info-déchets 2026 (PDF)
- Bags (Renens collecte page, 5 Oct 2026): household refuse goes only in the white bags of the regional « Trier c’est valoriser » scheme, in 35, 60 or 110 litres, sold in rolls in all shops in the region. Put the bag in an underground container or an approved wheeled container; wheeled containers may go out at the roadside from 20:00 the evening before collection. Recyclables are not allowed in refuse bags (art. 8 of the communal waste regulation), and sworn staff may open non-compliant bags.
- Collection days (2026): refuse on Tuesday (zone 1) or Thursday (zone 2) (street list on the collecte page); biowaste Monday, plus Thursday from June to September; paper / cardboard Wednesday; glass about once a month on a Friday (dates in the Info-déchets 2026 PDF). Do not use glass containers between 20:00 and 07:00, on Sundays or on public holidays.
- Bulky items you cannot carry: monthly pick-up by appointment on 021 632 74 02, CHF 50 per trip (maximum 3 bulky items) (collecte page and Info-déchets 2026, 5 Oct 2026).
- Bag prices: Renens does not publish a shop price table (waste pages and Info-déchets 2026 leaflet). The communal waste regulation (art. 12 A, 2013 text still posted on renens.ch) sets maximum bag taxes, VAT included: 17 L CHF 1.25, 35 L CHF 2.50, 60 L CHF 4.75, 110 L CHF 7.50 (Règlement communal sur la gestion des déchets (PDF)). These are legal caps, not shop prices. For comparison only, the Ville de Lausanne table for the same white bag lists 35 L at CHF 1.95 (5 Oct 2026, Lausanne). To verify: the shelf price in Renens shops.
- Taxe de base (per adult): the same regulation (art. 12 B) caps it at CHF 120 per year, VAT included, per inhabitant over 18, and states that your situation on 1 January decides the tax for that year. Renens does not publish the current amount on its waste pages. Background: the 2013 council report set CHF 90 incl. VAT for 2013, exempted children up to 18, and created a commune subsidy equal to the billed base tax for private individuals (préavis 33-2013 (PDF)). The Budget 2026 (PDF) still lists a « Taxe de base citoyens » revenue line and a « Subvention communale » line under « Soutien à la population ». To verify: the 2026 amount per adult, whether the subsidy still cancels it out, and whether you are billed for the year you arrive. Ask Gestion urbaine - Durabilité, Centre technique communal, Rue du Lac 14, 021 632 74 02, gudd@renens.ch.
- Regional system: Renens is part of the VALORSA waste perimeter for western Vaud (« périmètre Ouest », per the 2013 préavis; the Budget 2026 glossary still names VALORSA). Your day-to-day rules (bags, days, déchèterie) come from the Renens pages above.
- Déchèterie de Malley (CID): Déchèterie de Malley, Chemin de l’Usine-à-Gaz 20, 1020 Renens. Open Monday to Friday 08:00 to 18:00 and Saturday 08:00 to 17:00, closed on public holidays (Renens page, 5 Oct 2026; special hours on lausanne.ch). Open to residents of Renens, Prilly, Chavannes and Lausanne with an access card. New residents receive a card automatically; one card per household; a duplicate for a lost card costs CHF 20 via the online form, is billed by invoice and is posted within 15 days. An illegible card returned to the Centre technique communal is replaced free of charge. If a removal company clears your flat, it fills in the « Déclaration client-transporteur » form on lausanne.ch to drop the waste free of charge. A swap corner for reusable objects is on site.
- Mobile neighbourhood déchèteries: on set dates, Wednesday 09:00 to 14:00 or Saturday 09:00 to 12:00, rotating between Biondes (Ch. de Biondes 44), Église catholique (Av. de l’Église-Catholique 2b), Simplon (Rue du Simplon 7a), Village (Sentier de la Gare 9), Tennis (Av. des Baumettes 25), Florissant (Ch. de la Roche 24) and Piscine (Av. de la Piscine 8). For people on foot or by bike only (cars are sent to Malley); no garden waste. Dates for each spot are in the Info-déchets 2026 calendar (Déchèteries, Renens).
- Collection points in town (open any time): textiles, aluminium and tin cans, mineral and vegetable oils, aluminium coffee capsules, batteries.

- Bags and collection (confirmed 5 Oct 2026): household refuse goes in the official white taxed bag (sac taxé blanc); the 2026 leaflet shows refuse collection on Tuesday, biowaste on Monday and paper/cardboard on Friday (Dépliant info déchets 2026 (PDF)).
- Taxe forfaitaire ("taxe poubelle"): CHF 50 per year for a one-person household, CHF 100 for two people or more; children up to 18 are exempt (amounts labelled 2025 on the commune page as of 5 Oct 2026) (Chavannes, Impôts et taxes, directive (PDF)).

- Lausanne bag table (Ville page, 5 Oct 2026): 17 L CHF 1.00; 35 L CHF 1.95 (roll CHF 19.50); 60 L CHF 3.80; 110 L CHF 6.00. Full detail on Waste and recycling basics and Ville de Lausanne, Sacs taxés et taxe de base.
